All Applicants Must Undergo Fingerprinting as per NYS-OPWDD

In-Home Respite is a service that provides relief to individuals who are responsible for the primary care and support of an individual with a developmental disability. In- Home Respite services provide temporary relief from the demands of care giving, which helps reduce overall family stress. This often enables families to better meet the needs of their loved one.

This service is provided in the home, during the day or evenings. When a family member has to deal with such things as illness, emergency or vacation, respite services can ensure that the individual’s needs are met. In some cases, the primary caregiver never leaves the premises but may simply be getting a break so that they can cook dinner or pay the bills. The respite worker comes to the home, and gets to know the individual in his or her normal environment to better serve him or her.
