Intensive Behavior Services
- Intensive Behavioral Services have been designed for people who live in non-certified settings or Family Care Homes who present challenging behaviors and are at imminent risk of placement into a more restrictive living environment. The objective is to assist family members and service delivery staff with the tools necessary to improve the present challenging behaviors being exhibited in the home. Components of this service include a functional behavior assessment, behavior management plan, implementation and monitoring of behavioral interventions and training in the behavior management plan.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Have a complete application submitted for service authorization.
- Be determined OPWDD-eligible.
- Be enrolled in the HCBS Waiver.
- Reside in a non-certified setting (except for an OPWDD-certified Family Care Homes).
- Have documentation substantiating that the individual is at imminent risk of being placed in a more restrictive living environment due to challenging behaviors.
- Have a clear need for the type of services provided under the IB Services model, as clinically determined by OPWDD (e.g., not psychiatric).
- Likely be able to benefit from the provision of IB Services, and not have received IB services in the last three (3) years.
Additionally, the SPS-RO will review the application and information from the Coordinated Assessment System (CAS) or Individuals needs comprehensive assessment in making service authorization decisions for IB Services.
